#14-Wedgwood Bamboo
Interesting and unusual Wedgwood bamboo design in a lidded round box and a creamer. The pieces are primrose yellow Jasperware. Box: 2 3/8" high and 3.25" in diameter at the top. Both are marked. Both need to be cleaned. Information from "Wedgwood a living tradition" pamphlet from the company: "The most famous of all Wedgwood's inventions was his Jasper, an unglazed vitreous fine stoneware which could be stained a variety of colours to provide a suitable background for white classical bas-reliefs or portraits...Jasper was perfected in 1774." NOTE: these are the only 2 pieces of the bamboo pattern in this collection. Mark on bottom of box suggest the piece was made between 1891 and 1908.
